An Onlay covers all points over a tooth, while an Inlay is similar to a filling. Both the Onlay and Inlay are preformed from a composite resin which is tooth colored. They are design to fit over or into a specific area of the tooth in same manner in which a crown or ¾ crown is designed to do.
